Provident Films Presents - Ring the Bell DVD - Giveaway

Movie - Ring the Bell - DVD

Presented by:  Provident Films

Rating - PG - For "Mild Thematic Elements."

Running Time - 96 minutes

This wholesome, family-friendly movie is about a wealthy executive from the city, who heads to a small town.  He flashes his money, trying to sign a star, high school, ball player to his sports agency.  He is met with integrity, kindness, and a steadfast resistance to his way of life.

He spends some time at a boy's ranch, which is an orphanage and is run by two amazing young people.  Viewers are taken along with him to experience what life is like for those who are devoted to the Lord and His ways.

A few brief meetings with the town's pastor (played by Steven Curtis Chapman), is a blessing to watch.

We are also treated to an excellent town concert with the real Casting Crowns, who share an inspiring message.

The meaning of "ringing the bell," is absolutely precious!

Overall, this is an amazing movie and a surprising delight.  It is something to watch more than once, and share with others.

Review - Courageous DVD

Movie - Courageous- Honor Begins at Home. (From the  Creators of "Fireproof.")

Media type - DVD, 129 Minutes.

Rating - PG - 13 (for "violence and thematic elements.")

This faith based film is outstanding!  Follow the lives of four cops, all fathers, and watch their lives change for the better as they resolve to change the direction of their families.

Each man has a serious struggle in his life. But they each meet together and learn from Scripture, on what God's wants them to do.

The story line, itself, is thrilling at times, has its heartbreaking moments, and will also teach and inspire viewers to live godly lives.  I am amazed to see such a rare gem that centers specifically on men and their Christian calling.

I want to share just a few of the things that I appreciated:

1.  A Teenage Daughter learns how to respect her father's wishes in choosing a boyfriend. I have never seen a father show such great care and commitment to her well-being. This clearly shows the modern culture our teens struggle in, and gives us a practical vision of how Dads can protect their children's hearts.

2. The exhaustion of one of the Dads, and his struggle to give up even more of his own time for the sake of his teenage son.

3. The tremendous faith one of the fathers has in trying to find a way to financially support his wife and children.

I also love the resolutions (promises) each of these men made, in writing.  These are serious guidelines they agreed to follow and live by.

Resources have been created to go along with this movie. These include:

1. Courageous: A Novelby Randy Alcorn.
This book is amazing! It is based on the movie itself, but is an expanded version with additional subplots.  I absolutely loved it!

2. The Resolution for Men and The Resolution for Women.  Both of these books have the written resolutions, along with detailed chapters on each promise. They are designed for study groups or individual use.

The Woodcarver DVD - Giveaway

Movie - The Woodcarver (Restoring Their Faith in God and in Life).

From - Faith and Family Films.

Rating - PG

Running Time - 90 Minutes.

A young rebellious teenager vandalizes the outside of a church in his community. He is acting out because of pain from his family.  He is required to make restitution by repairing the damage he caused.

One would think this teen is the main character and that the plot revolves around him, but the woodcarver is the real star, with a powerful message.  The teen begins to work with him, which infuriates his backslidden father.  The boys' parents are in the midst of a divorce and home -life has fallen apart. We also vividly see the destruction which can come from focusing heavily on seeking money at the expense of family.

This movie shows tremendous grace to the sinner. It shows the power of patience and the beauty of a life-long marriage. The example and advice from the woodcarver speaks volumes.

A Mile in His Shoes Movie - Giveaway

Movie - A Mile in His Shoes DVD - (Christian Film)

Rating - PG

Running Time - 89 mins.

This inspiring movie stars Dean Cain, as Arthur Murphy - a coach of a baseball team. In his travels, he stumbles on a rural farm and meets a young man (Mickey) with Asperger's syndrome. He is kind-hearted, polite, dedicated to his parents and has a great pitching arm.   The coach recruits him for his team. The father has a hard time letting his son go, showing us how difficult it is for we parents to watch our children experience life, without our protection.

We see a team come together and support Mickey. But we also see the cruelty of the real world, when a jealous player causes a serious problem.

I loved cheering for Mickey as his skills grew. The coach is an excellent example of helping each player do their best, no matter what they are going through.

This is a wholesome family movie and is based on a true story.

Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Lodge - DVD Movie Giveaway

MovieChristmas Lodge

Price - $9.99

Rating - G

This gently paced movie centers around Mary and her family.  Her family has fond memories of The Christmas Lodge where they all spent many holidays.  Mary works in the city and takes a trip back to the country. She stumbles upon the old Lodge, now in need of repairs.  Her grandfather is very ill and encourages everyone to help get the Lodge back in working condition. It means everything to them. Through it all, Mary finds a sweet love in the owner of the Lodge. This man is doing his best to carry on his family's lodge and is grateful for the help and re-newed friendship he finds in Mary's family.

The movie is a little slow in the beginning, compared to Hollywood films, but as I continued to watch, I realized the slow aspect of the plot was really calming and drew me in so much better than I could have imagined.   I absolutely loved how the family would pray before meals! Their faith in God is a normal part of their lives, and was refreshing to watch.

This Christian Movie has it's heartwarming moments that help strengthen the viewer's faith. You'll also find a nice free bonus in the DVD Case - a limited edition painting - this is a  4" x 6" print depicting the beautiful Christmas Lodge.

Overall, the movie is suitable for all ages. It is a great family movie and worth watching more than once.

The Grace Card Movie - DVD - Giveaway

Movie (DVD) - The Grace Card  (Christian Film)

Rating - PG - 13

This action packed movie is fascinating.  I love that it has a strong Christian message. I also love that Louis Gossett, Jr. is one of the actors!

The story starts with a tragic accident that causes bitterness and pain in the father, Mac. He is a police officer and sees crime and suffering on a daily basis. He is bitter and judgemental, but there is a heart somewhere inside him.  His interaction with his wife and teenage son is hard to watch, but very common in today's homes. Many can relate to the sacrifices parents make for their children, which seem to go unnoticed and unappreciated. How this all plays out in Officer Mac's life is encouraging and inspiring. The People and events which were brought into his life, can happen to any of us. It gave me hope, as I watched, seeing grace and long-suffering in action.  I was absolutely delighted with how his fellow officer (and partner) handled him, prayed for him, and never gave up, no matter how much he wanted to.  I was also inspired by the many Christian people, in his everyday life, who helped bring healing to Mac and his family.

The film has a strong message to help alleviate racial prejudices.  This came through so clearly, that I could see it working in many kinds of relationships - neighbors, co-workers and even family members.

Overall, it is an excellent film, which made me cry repeatedly. I highly recommend it for older teens and adults.

Movie - The Shunning DVD - Giveaway

Movie The Shunning  (based on the Amish book by Beverly Lewis.)

Running Time - 88 minutes

Price - $16.99

This Christian based movie was produced and directed by Michael Landon, Jr. It is a beautifullly done production. The secenery, the actors, the settings are all lovely. The story line was well acted. I love the elderly woman in the story, who appeared briefly. Her wisdom was inspiring.

The story centers around an Amish young lady about to be married to the Bishop, who is a widow with sons. Just before this happens, she finds out that she was adopted as a baby and her real  mother was one of the "English." It is heartbreaking to see her struggle with this news. The procedure of Amish "shunning" is vividly and devastatingly portrayed.  The ending was encouraging and I sincerely hope there is a part two!
